New Sony BRAVIA X4500 and W4500 LCD HDTV Series Unleashed

Sony BRAVIA X4500 and W4500 Sony has introduced two new TVs series under it’s BRAVIA brand. The BRAVIA X4500 and W4500 show off their full HD for 1080p pictures and 100Hz motion technology.

Speaking on X4500 and W4500 series, George Damigos, General Manager, Marketing, TV Marketing Europe, explained, “The unique blend of advanced technology and leading design of both the BRAVIA X4500 and slim speaker systems, mean that consumers can now view crystal-clear images with atmospheric sound without compromising on the look and feel of their home. Together with the feature-packed W4500 series, these two new BRAVIA ranges represent the absolute pinnacle of Sony innovation in bringing you the best-looking pictures and an unmatched home theatre experience.”

Powered by Engine BE 2 PRO, the BRAVIA X4500 comes in 40-inch, 46-inch and 55-inch screen sizes, whereas the W4500 series is powered by Engine BE 2 and come in three sizes, 40-inch, 42-inch and 46-inch.

In the BRAVIA X4500, Sony has incorporated “energy-efficient” red, green and blue LED backlights momentarily dim itself in dark areas of a picture, lowering power usage. With the auto-dimming feature, the deeper blacks and enhanced contrast images are visible by reducing ‘light leakage’.

The floating speaker design acts as a key attribute of the X4500. Sony has added 6 main speakers and 2 woofer speakers on the 55X4500 and 4 main and 2 woofer speakers on 40X4500 / 46X4500. A RGB Dynamic LED Backlight is also available.

Furthermore, the flat screen HDTV TV offers 1080p resolution, 24f/s (aka 24p0 playback, 100Hz motion technology and 1,100,000:1 contrast ratio in addition to four HDMI ports and a USB port. However, the 40-inch X4500 TV boasts 50,000:1 of contrast ratio.

The Bravia W4500 is more or less similar to the X4500 but lacks floating speakers or the RGB LED backlight set-up. The W4500 shares a 1080p screen, 24f/s playback and 100Hz technology, and a USB port. However, the W4500 delivers a 50,000:1 contrast ratio and has only three HDMI ports.

Sony’s new BRAVIA ENGINE 2 PRO filters, the latest-generation DRC (Digital Reality Creation) 3.0 to boost the resolution using advanced up-conversion-technology to stream a Full HD 1080p picture.

Both the series sport Motionflow, Integrated MPEG-4 AVC HD tuner, IB Reduction, x.v.Colour, BRAVIA Sync, DLNA, Picture Frame Mode, PhotoTV HD and Optical digital output as well as S-Force audio.

Sony has plans to roll out the X4500 series by October and the W4500 line-up next month. Prices are still a mystery.
