Pioneer to Close Down Plasma TV Production?

Pioneer Logo News is spreading on the internet that Pioneer is expected to stop the production of plasma TVs. Instead the company might buy plasma panels from another Japanese company named Matsushita.

Rumors further say that Pioneer is losing money on its own plasma manufacturing plants. Hence, buying the panels from another company would be profitable for Pioneer.

Furthermore the company is expected to report a loss of 10 billion yen or about $96 million USD for the fiscal year.

As of now Pioneer is the fifth largest plasma producing company in the world.

Last year, Pioneer had stopped the production of LCD TVs. Now, it buys LCD panels from Sharp. The company is expected to tie up with Matsushita over Plasma TVs.

However, there is no official word about such Plasma manufacturing units closure from Pioneer.
