CEA president Gary Shapiro said, “HDTVs are expected to account for 79 percent of total digital TV shipments in 2008.” Moreover, the digital TV makers will achieve 100 percent of the revenue growth to over $25 billion in this year. A 13 percent revenue growth and 17 percent unit sales growth for digital television in 2008 is also anticipated.

Digital TV has the ability to deliver a resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixel that offers clearer and better-defined image.

Leaving behind the analog signal, television broadcasters will shift to digital signal from 17th Feb 2009, according to federal communications commission. At CES 2008, “Goodbye Analog, Hello DTV” session will also be held to promote the digital TV.

Do we expect U.S. to move closer to switching to all-digital broadcasting?
