Rotary Smartphone lets users dial numbers literally

Rotary Smartphone Steampunk

Retro is cool. Don’t think so? Ask designer Richard Clarkson who has gone steampunk with his latest Rotary Smartphone concept which features rusty looking yet elegant interchangeable brass dials. The deliberately worn out electroplated copper body further enhances its period looks.

Along with the old school rotary dial the device also has a button dial. The two interchangeable brass dials are inspired from the act of changing camera lenses. Making calls from the phone will prove to be time consuming due to its rotating dial. But again this gadget doesn’t seem like it’s built for people who are busy drooling over the clutter of smartphones available in the markets.

The phone however loses its retro feel once it’s flipped and the color screen display is exposed. Clarkson nevertheless has tried to keep it as minimal as possible as seen on Yanko Design. A leather case complements the phone’s body brilliantly.

The uber cool Rotary Smartphone doesn’t have a price tag yet and its availability too hasn’t been disclosed.
