Acer recently announced the upcoming launch of its latest slate dubbed Acer Iconia Tab A500 across the U.S. This new offering is currently available for pre-sale at the Best Buy website.
The sleek Acer Iconia Tab A500 sports an alpine silver brushed metal aluminum chassis as well as a 0.52†thin profile and weighs just 1.69 pounds. It is powered by Android 3.0 or Honeycomb and runs on the Nvidia Tegra 2 mobile 1GHz dual-core processor to deliver better performance. The device incorporates 1GB of RAM memory and a GeForce GPU which is part of the Nvidia chip for enabling users to enjoy HD gaming, faster browsing, multimedia playback and flash-based websites. Additionally, the company is retailing it with free pre-installed copies of Let’s Golf and Need for Speed: Shift.

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 shows off a 10.1†1280 x 800p TFT WXGA touchscreen display for rendering an improved viewing experience. It includes Dolby Mobile technology to proffer finely tuned audio quality and comes pre-loaded with Acer LumiRead and Google Books eReading apps for letting bookworms enjoy those eBooks. It integrates a rear facing 5MP AF flash-enabled camera for photography fanatics.
This compact gizmo also encompasses a front facing 2MP FF camera to enable video conferencing. It packs in two 3,260mAh Li-polymer batteries to ensure up to eight hours of HD video playback or approximately ten hours of Wi-Fi internet browsing. The Acer offering comes equipped with 16GB of flash memory storage and the included microSD card reader supports around 32GB cards. It can be seamlessly connected to other DLNA-compliant devices for quick content sharing by employing the Acer clear.fi utility.
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 Wi-Fi only version is attached with a price tag of $449.99 (approx Rs. 19,827) may be pre-ordered from Best Buy retail stores from April 14. It is expected to be released officially on April 24.
