Top Gadgets of the Month: December 2010

Monthly December 2010

The ringing Christmas bells, starry nights, chilly cold and Santa’s ‘Ho ho ho’ effectively come to an end with the completion of December and this year. Since the beginning of this year, tech manufacturers have undeniably kept us appalled with newer and striking innovations. The current breezy weather has sent chills down our spines along with the gadgets which made headlines in the last thirty days. Jotting down details about these novelties, here we present a list of those gizmos which managed to spark up our faces with broad smiles.

Those who are fans of Dell may recall the glee on their faces when the company decided to grace the shelves with its Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 smartphone. Embellished with a 4.1” WVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, the beauty employs a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard for convenient navigation. Its latest Microsoft OS ensures flawless multitasking, while the included support for games on Xbox Live delighted us even further. Users can effortlessly personalize their Live Tiles on the homescreen in order to enjoy quick access to social connectivity. This travel-friendly handset shows off a scratch-resistant Gorilla glass which assures robustness as well.

The month also packed in a punch for photography buffs with five elegant digital cameras entering through Samsung. The WB, ST and PL series quintuplet models with stylish designs adorned the tech shelves. The 14MP WB600 and 14.2MP PL200 feature 7x optical zoom and 15x Schneider super zoom lens, respectively. On the other hand, the DualView PL150 and PL100 flaunt 12MP CCD and 5x and 3x optical zoom, correspondingly. Users who would like to own a combination of 5x optical zoom and 14.2MP CCD image sensor can pick up the ST600 variant. Including Dual Image Stabilization function, all these devices come with wide-angle lenses for further clarity.

Just a day before Christmas, Sony tapped the nerves of gaming admirers with its stunning PSPgo gaming console. Seizing gaming titles like Little Big Planet, Fifa World Cup and eight others got possible with this gizmo. Going creative, the sleek encasing of the device can store hoards of content on its 16GB hard disk drive. Its smart sliding screen renders seamless controls, while its 160g weight ensures further flexibility. Owners can save their favorite music, images, videos or files with a sense of ease. Interestingly, users can chat online with their friends and family by using Skype and the built-in microphone.

It’s not the first time that the Notion Ink Adam tablet has created news with its exclusive features or alleged critiques. But after a lot of anticipation, the gizmo was finally put up for pre-order this month. With attributes like 3-axis accelerometer, ambient light sensor, microSD card support and 3.2MP AF camera, this seems to be a good catch. Another important characteristic of the tablet is Nvidia’s Dual Core Tegra 250 processor which is especially included for gamers. As for the interface, its Eden software supports multi-touch keyboard. Additionally, the gadget houses an HDMI port, a DC slot, a miniUSB connector and a SIM card terminal.

There’s one more handset which grabbed our attention when scribbling down this list. When the talks about the newest Gingerbread OS were still surfacing the mobile phone domain, Google and Samsung collaboratively released its freshly baked Nexus S handset. Making a scene with Android 2.3, this WVGA Super AMOLED 4” Contour device supposedly comes with a Super Clean LCD for the Russian market. Nevertheless, the 5MP smartphone allows easy video calling using its front-facing VGA camera. To add to gamers’ ecstasy, it includes gyroscope for a smoother, fluid-like experience.

Looks like this last month had a lot in store for gamers. Scrutinizing the list from multimedia devices to hot gadgets, we couldn’t help but include the launch of the Asus 15.6” G53 and 17” G73 gaming notebooks. This duo shows off its three dimensional compatibility by hosting 3D TV outputs for connecting any 3D enabled TV using the new HDMI 1.4 standard. Bundled in with Nvidia’s 3D Vision, these gaming gadgets ensure enthusiastic players have a gala for longer time using their rear venting cooling exhaust. Tagged along with Intel Quad Core i7-740QM processor, both devices subsume support for dual hard drives too.

Well, the wintry climate is all set to turn frosty and we hope that these sizzling gizmos provide some warmth for a while. So sip the hot coffee, go for walks at dawn and enjoy the New Year bash while awaiting the arrival of steaming gadgets which are girding up to steal the limelight in 2011.
