Another addition to the various ways in which a bedside lamp can be controlled apart from actually stretching over and doing it is a new gizmo from Stem Innovation. The TimeCommand dock is an alarm clock and music system for Apple’s iPod, iPhone and iPad. iTunes hosts a Stem: Connect app that enables additional features for dimming lights and a Wake-by-Light function.
The dock proffers a fully dimmable LED screen, bedside lamp control and tweakable app brightness on the user’s choice of Apple device. The display and app can be temporarily brightened with a simple touch, while the latter supports multi-tasking in iOS 4 devices. The last mentioned capability ensures that alarms are sounded even when the iPod, iPhone or iPad is locked or asleep.
TimeCommand employs Stem:Sonic iQ digital signal processing technology to render good quality ambient room audio. By downloading the aforesaid app, users can avail of a 10-band graphic equalizer, bass enhancer and internet radio playback. The integrated SafeWake features include battery-backup, automatic transfers of alarm settings from app-to-clock and vice versa.
Apple’s retail outlets are currently stocking the TimeCommand dock for iPod, iPhone and iPad.
