Sony HES-V1000 Home Entertainment Server Announced

Sony HES-V1000 Home Entertainment Server Yesterday Sony Entertainment launched HES-V1000 Home Entertainment Server. The unit sports a full HD 1080p 200-disc Blu-ray Disc(TM)/DVD/CD changer (196 12cm BD/DVD/CDs and four 8cm BD/DVDs) and 500GB hard disk drive.

A 500G hard disk means users can store up to 137 hours of video, 40,000 songs or 20,000 digital photos.

“With its extraordinary storage capacity, the HES-V1000 unit is the perfect device to store and share personal digital content, such as high-definition home movies and photos,” said Christopher Fawcett, vice president of home video marketing for Sony Electronics.

“Not only can you burn photo slide shows and home movies directly to BD or DVD to share with friends and family, the device’s massive storage capacity allows you to house an entire collection of movies, digital music and photos,” Fawcett added.

The HES-V1000 system also offers Sony’s new x-Application that includes x-Pict Story HD and x-ScrapBook photo slide show, so that users can create customized photo presentations with the help of the remote. The x-Pict Story HD incorporates unique layouts with face-recognition technology. Besides, it also syncs transitions with music selected from personal content libraries to create an exciting slideshow of photos.

While the x-ScrapBook automatically arranges slide show in a fast timeframe to explore memories in a personalized digital scrapbook. The best advantage is that it is capable of exporting both types of slide shows to Blu-ray Discs or DVDs to share with family and friends.

Moreover, the HES-V1000 can be connected to the internet with the help of the Ethernet or an optional wireless adapter. Also users can download any firmware updates directly to the system, when connected to the internet.

Besides, it also has ability to stream music wirelessly throughout the home with a router to other devices. And the HES-V1000 also supports other Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-compatible wireless devices, such as PlayStation3 (PS3) videogame console and selected VAIO notebook computers. The system can also be registered up to ten devices with four independent audio streams.

The HES-V1000 also features Memory Stick media inputs, Secure Digital cards, CompactFlash media and xD-Picture CardTM flash memory readers that allows easy and quick transfer of digital image content.

Sony’s HES-V1000 Home Entertainment Server will be available in October at the estimated price of $3,500 (approx 1,42,450 INR).
