Sharp plans to launch palm-sized NetWalker

Sharp NetWalker Internet Terminal Sharp has unveiled its plans to launch a new 5-inch Internet terminal in the Japanese market. The company has been unusually quite after the launch of its Aquos DX2 series earlier this month. The upcoming Internet terminal dubbed NetWalker explains what kept the company’s hands full.

The Sharp NetWalker is a palm-sized device that weighs around 409g. It features a battery that promises to provide a usage time of about 10 hours. The Sharp NetWalker is also known as the PC-Z1. This device allows users to send and receive e-mails and also create documents. It lets users download entertainment content like dictionaries, novella and comics.

“We aim to sell 1 million units a year in the near future,” said Sharp Executive Vice President Masafumi Matsumoto.

The NetWalker is ready to use in approximately three seconds. This feature is a result of Sharp’s attempts to make this device as easy and convenient to use as mobile phones.

The Sharp NetWalker will be made available in Japan starting September 25, and is expected to retail for around 45,000 Yen (approx. Rs. 23,320). Sharp is planning to introduce this device in the US, Europe and China later.
