Sanyo in-dash Navigation Systems

In the words of Slashgear, Sanyo announces its two new in-dash navigation and entertainment systems, dubbed the NVA-GS1609FT and the NVA-GS1409DT. The USP of these upcoming models is an embedded solid-state-drive support. This exclusivity as a part of the package will surely lure consumers!

Expanding the AV Gorilla family, the new members sport a 7-inch LCD touchscreen that delivers a resolution of 480 x 240 pixels, 3D maps, an integrated DVD player, CD ripping functionality and a digital TV tuner for streaming OTA shows.

Both the navigators are compatible with WMA, MP3 and AAC file formats for entertainment. For enhanced music playback, the systems enable drivers to use their iPod – thanks to an SD card slot.

While the NVA-GS1609FT is said to be the higher-end model and it comes with a 16GB SSD to store maps and POIs along with music that are ripped from CDs, the NVA-GS1409DT comes with 8GB of SSD storage for only map information. It is believed that it has the ability to rip CDs to an inserted SD memory card only.

The NVA-GS1609FT is slated to hit the Japanese market from June 20, 2009 for an estimated price of $1,740 (approx. Rs. 82,949), whereas the NVA-GS1409DT will release on June 25, 2009 with a price tag of $1,420 (approx. Rs. 67,694).
