Alpine rolls out NVE-M300 GPS navigation drive

Alpine has introduced new NVE-M300 GPS navigation drive. This black box navigation module helps include turn-by-turn navigation functionality to Alpine’s IVA-W505 Audio/Video (AV) and iXA-W404 head units.

This navigation drive measures 4 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ x 1″ and can be easily installed behind the dashboard. The incorporated OnPoint GPS positioning helps maintain accurate position of the vehicle’s icon on the map even in areas with difficult GPS reception, such as around tall buildings, in a tunnel or under heavy foliage. This technology employs satellite-linked GPS data, solid-state gyro sensor technology for accurate direction and accelerometer technology for determining the vehicle’s speed.

“With the NVE-M300, we are delivering an improved GPS navigation experience at a lower cost,” said Stephen Witt, vice president, marketing, Alpine Electronics. “The NVE-M300 drive gives customers the opportunity to easily add GPS navigation to their iXA-W404 of IVA-W505 AV head units.”

It bundles up other features like the simple and intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), voice guided driving directions and Text-to-speech technology. It sports big, bright icons with large buttons thereby facilitating easy identification of commands or maneuvers. The device also offers assistive mapping visuals display essential driving information like One-Way Street icons and Highway Junction View. The NVE-M300 comes preloaded with the Navteq maps of the United States and Canada as well as 6 million unique Points of Interest (POIs) like restaurants, movie theaters, hotels, gas stations and grocery stores.

The NVE-M300 offers customizable options. User can choose color schemes from a palette of four map colors and eight menu colors. It also offers English, Spanish and French language options. The NVE-M300 GPS Navigation Drive is available for $450 (approx Rs.21,873), the IVA-W505 is available for $1,100 SRI and the iXA-W404 is available for $550 SRI.
