Dash Express – a Two-Way GPS with Internet announced, Pre-Orders Started

Dash Express Two-Way GPS Dash has started accepting pre-orders of Dash Express, an Internet-connected in-car GPS system that comes with a very innovative feature of two-way communication, which enables multiple units to communicate with each other and shares information about traffic conditions.

Once connected, the Dash Express has the ability to get information from the Dash Driver Network that comprises of a real-time database of all other Dash Express owners. It even keeps track of their current location, speed and other details that further recognize upcoming traffic jams. Thus, alerting the drivers with the same and gives up to three different alternative routes.

In addition, the GPS navigator sports a 4.3-inch, 480 by 272-pixel widescreen display with touchscreen capability and a two-hour battery live from its built-in lithium-ion battery.

Featuring Send2Car function, users can send addresses to the GPS unit from any browser via Internet. The company has partnered with Yahoo!, letting the owner to enter search requests into the navigation device terminal. In turn, Yahoo Local search finds out the addresses and other details that are relevant to the search.

Dash Express is currently available for pre-orders that will actually start shipping in February 2008. Priced at $599 (approx. Rs. 24,000), you can also activate the Dash service plan that is priced around $12 per month.
