TomTom One XL-S GPS System with Text-to-Speech Technology Unveiled

TomTom One XL-S GPS unit TomTom, the world’s largest navigation solutions provider, has released its new GPS unit, called TomTom ONE XL-S that joins the ONE XL range and features text-to-speech technology.

The device has the ability to read aloud the street names and places as part of the spoken navigation instructions. It also comes equipped with TomTom Map Share technology, a proprietary map improvement technology, which allows the owner to easily and instantly improve maps.

TomTom Inc president Jocelyn Vigreux. said, “The TomTom ONE XL-S brings two great technologies, text-to-speech for spoken instructions and TomTom Map Share(TM) for the most up-to-date maps, to our ONE XL platform. The TomTom ONE XL-S complements our portfolio and gives our customers even more products to choose from.”

In addition, it also sports a built-in touch screen interface, unique ‘HELP ME!’ feature on the 4.3 inch screen that provides information about the nearest car repair service center, police station or hospitals. It also allows users to either locate or call the closest emergency service provider no matter where they are.

TomTom ONE XL-S will be available from October-end for $399.95 (approx. Rs. 16,000) at major retailers across the US and Canada.
