Harman Kardon announces GPS-310, GPS-510 and GPS-810 Guide + Play Devices

Harman Kardon GPS-810 Harman Kardon has launched three new products in the Guide + Play line of portable GPS navigation units, namely the GPS-310, GPS-510 and GPS-810.

All the three latest models feature clean lines, slim profile, crisp WQVGA LCD screen and an intuitive touchscreen operation with other functions such as text-to-speech and real-time-traffic features, Windows Media digital-rights management (WM-DRM10), a picture viewer, Bluetooth hands-free calling and a breakthrough rotary wireless controller.

“For the consumer, the possibility of upgrading from an aging OEM head unit to one that offers connectivity to the growing range of popular portable devices is diminishing. Meanwhile, the use of portable devices to deliver content and connectivity in the car is exploding in popularity. As this phenomenon evolves, the average dashboard is getting overcrowded with multiple devices, a rat’s nest of wires, and a distracting array of different user interfaces,” said Mike Giffin, president of the Mobile, Portable and Companion Products Division of Harman Consumer Group. “Our Guide + Play personal GPS product line solves this problem. We start with the most accurate, intuitive, easy-to-use GPS navigation products available. Then we incorporate unsurpassed multimedia and connectivity functionality and versatility for a seamless, integrated mobile-infotainment experience.”

The GPS-310 comes equipped with a 4-inch widescreen WQVGA LCD with a 480×272 pixels resolution, integrated navigation and digital music player for the user to access navigation information in audible or display formats even when the playback is in use. Compatible with SD/SDHC cards, users can store MP3 and WMA music formats into the device.

Furthermore, it boasts 2GB of internal memory to store maps of the United States and Canada, as well as more than 10 million points of interest. A USB 2.0 interface that’s compatible with both PC’s and Macintosh computers along with AC adapter is also bundled with the GPS-310.

The GPS-510 sports a 4-inch widescreen WQVGA LCD, video player with WM-DRM10 decoding to support music and video downloads, and subscription services. It is compatible with SD/SDHC cards. User can access to music supporting MP3, AAC, WMA, WMV9, and MPEG4 file formats.

Moreover, it also provides a USB 2.0 high-speed interface with MTP support that automatically transfer videos and it is also compliant with the creation of playlists with Window Media player. However, it also includes features of the GPS-310.

Along with both GPS-310 and GPS-510 spec, the GPS-810 offers an intuitive, wireless rotary controller for in-car operation, Bluetooth, built-in microphones and an enhanced noise-cancellation system. On the 4.3-inch widescreen WQVGA LCD, call information and phone book, for most popular mobile phone models are displayed.

Additionally, it also sports a wireless FM transmitter, a picture viewer that supports JPEF file format, enabling the user to search images through thumbnail previews or a slide show.
