Razer Project Fiona Gaming Tablet

Hardcore gamers may soon be the proud owners of the Razer Project Fiona PC gaming tablet, the concept design of which has been showcased at the CES. As opposed to most other tablets in the market meant only for casual gaming, this Razer device will focus mainly on gaming allowing users to enjoy PC games on the portable slate.

The prospective tablet has been integrated with the third generation Intel Core i7 processor and will not require new applications. It is said to be compatible with most full-fledged PC games without optimizations. Equipped with dual game controllers and analog sticks, the hybrid user interface of the device supports gamepad-compliant PC games.

“While multi-touch screens have become the de facto user interface for tablets, they are not the right interface for serious PC gaming. The user interface we have designed for Project Fiona allows all existing PC games to be played right out of the box and also provides game developers new opportunities as they develop next-gen games on a highly-intuitive platform. Both developers and gamers are going to love the new user interface that combines the best of a gamepad, multi-touch screen and accelerometers for an all-new gaming experience on-the-go,” quoted Min-Liang Tan, CEO, Razer.

Additionally, accelerometers and the sensitive multi-touch display add to its capabilities as they allow running games developed for touchscreens. The slate’s controllers are also designed to deliver feedbacks while playing, for an immersive experience. It is said that the future games for this tablet will take advantage of both the core game functionality as well as the touch interface.

The Razer Project Fiona PC gaming tablet concept design will be turned into an actual product that is slated to start shipping in the Q4 in 2012. The estimated price of the Fiona is tagged at $1,000 (approx. Rs. 51,810).
