Portable gamers are bracing themselves for the new Sony PSP2 console that was scheduled to unveil this year. Keeping them at the edge of their seats were loads of rumors which only added to their curiosity and anticipation. Well, now according to Andriasang, Japan’s Nikkei newspaper has divulged more details on the much-awaited Sony’s next generation PlayStation Portable console.

The upcoming device seems to offer 3G support while this service in Japan will be delivered by NTT DoCoMo. Through this connection, players will be able to download software and movies as well as play online games. However, the offering won’t support conducting phone calls. Owners can also take advantage of the handheld’s standard wireless LAN option. Furthermore, it is reported that the PSP2 will include a large OLED touchscreen and a new processor formulated by Sony for supporting high resolution visuals.

While still on the subject of the PlayStation portable devces, the newspaper also covered the rumored PlayStation Phone. As it suggests, the handset is claimed to run on Google’s Android operating system and feature non-game software such as video and scheduling software. This smartphone will sport game features and button-based controls for an easier gaming experience.

The company is apparently planning on taking the covers off the new PSP2 system on January 27, 2011 at a press conference. Mobile gamers can expect the PlayStation Phone to be officially announced next month.
