Gamers in Japan can make way for this latest offering. SCEJ has revealed plans to introduce the PS3 in 160GB and 320GB 2.5†SATA HDD options. The company will also release the Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting Recorder Pack, classic white DualShock 3 wireless controller and classic white vertical stand for PS3.
Equipped with a Cell Broadband Engine CPU and an RSX GPU, the unit offers a choice of 256MB XDR main RAM and 256MB GDDR3 VRAM. The audio functionality includes 7.1ch LPCM, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD, AAC, DTS and DTS-HD connectivity. Users can enjoy Blu-ray games and movies as well as 3D content with this system.
The exterior of this Bluetooth 2.0+EDR ready device is embedded with two USB 2.0 port and it also comes with Ethernet capabilities. Users can also enjoy wireless connectivity with its IEEE 802.11b/g capability. It provides an HDMI out, an AV multi out and an optical digital out connector. Additionally, gamers can avail of videos and games through the PlayStation Store and enjoy video chat, text messaging and PlayStation Home with other online users.
The device weighs about 3kg with dimensions amounting to approximately 290mm x 65mm x 290 mm. The PS3 bundle is sold with an AC power cord, an AV cable and a USB cable. The PS3 Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting recorder pack comes with the charcoal black edition of the 160GB PS3. It also includes the ‘torne’ digital terrestrial tuner and application. This limited offer pack will be available at 36,980 yen (approx. Rs. 19,706). Users can also purchase the DualShock 3 wireless controller for PS3 at 5,500 yen (approx. Rs. 2,930) and a vertical stand for PS3 at 2,000 yen (approx. Rs. 1,060).
The 160GB PS3 can be purchased in either charcoal black or classic white colors. It is priced at 29,980 yen (approx. Rs. 15,980). Gamers can pick up the 320GB model in a charcoal black shade for 34,980 yen (approx. Rs. 18,640). Just like the 160GB and 320GB PS3, the wireless controller and the vertical stand will be available from July 29, 2010. The currently available PS3 which is out at 29,980 yen (approx. Rs. 15,980) will become open price starting from tomorrow.
