Majesco slips iPhone and iPod users the Bananagrams game

Bananagrams SS iPhoneBoard games may not seem as boring when played on your regular iPod or iPhone. With that in mind, Majesco Entertainment Company has brought the Bananagrams word game to iPod and iPhone users.

This multi-player game progresses at a fast pace with players simultaneously creating the maximum number of words they can from pre-selected tiles and dropping them onto the board. It deviates from Scrabble, where players take it in turns to form interconnected words. The competitor who gets rid of all his tiles first wins the game. Multi-Touch UIs gives users the advantage of dragging and dropping entire groups of letters or even words at a time.

“Majesco is very excited to be developing games for cutting edge mobile platforms like iPhone and iPod touch,” proclaimed Gui Karyo, Executive VP of Operations, Majesco. “Bananagrams’ fast-paced style of multiplayer puzzle gameplay is perfectly suited to take full advantage of the capabilities offered by these powerful portable devices.”

This game offers the option of playing against a maximum of 24 players in ‘Live’ or alone in single player game formats dubbed Banana Solitaire and Single Player Banana Café. The game designers have come up with a Banangrams application on Facebook too. The host-device’s networking ability determines whether it can support the match or not. Special items, different tile sets and board patterns can be bought virtually, using tokens or trophies won in this anagram based game.

The game is available at $4.99 (approx. Rs.240) from the iPhone and iPod touch App Store.
