At the Game Developers Conference, Performance Designed Products (PDP) has launched Gametrak Freedom and SmartStylus 1 and 2 devices to change the face of the gaming arena.

Designed specifically for Xbox 360, the Gametrak Freedom is said to be a proprietary and patent-pending ultrasonic 3D motion sensing technology that claims to provide enhanced performance, increased control and flexibility. With the included base unit, gamers can attach the system to the Xbox 360 via USB. It also comprises of a hand-held controller.

Leaving behind the standard motion sensing function, the Gametrak Freedom boasts its ability to accurately track the true 3D position and precise movements of up to four players anywhere within a given environment. It offers a complete control and unparalleled game play opportunities.

The Gametrak Freedom system is expected to come packed with Squeeballs game. Particularly developed to showcase the technology, “Squeeballs” is a collection of over 150 unique challenges to demonstrate the capabilities of the controller such as blow, cook, slice, bat, bowl, shoot and bounce.

In addition to the Gametrak Freedom, PDP also raised the curtains of the new revolutionary wireless device, SmartStylus 1 and 2, especially for the Nintendo DS. Featuring a vibration feedback, the two gaming peripherals enable users to feel the stylus based on movements and commands in the game.

The SmartStylus 2 supports LEDs and sound and motion feedback to double up as a motion input device.

“The technologies offered by both the Gametrak Freedom and the SmartStylus tools are the first of their kind,” commented John Moore, senior vice president of marketing for the California-based PDP. “PDP is excited to be introducing these new technologies. They will create a new level of gaming that can be enjoyed by the whole family.”

PDP plans to release the Gametrak Freedom exclusively for Xbox 360 in fall 2009. However, the SmartStylus 1 is awaiting its licensing by Nintendo.
