PS3 to Outsell Xbox 360 in 2008, predicts EA

Electronic Arts has given its’ prediction for the gaming industry. In the year 2008, the console wars might notice no significant change. EA forecasts that PlaySation 3 might overtake Xbox 360 in context to the sale figures, whereas Nintendo Wii will maintain its winning position for North America and Europe.

According to the prediction, Nintendo Wii will continue to be in the first position, PS3 will shift to second position and Xbox 360 would move to third place.

The foresee mentions that Nintendo would mark a sales figures of around 12-14 million units of the Wii console, whereas 6-8 million units of Xbox 360 and 9.5-11.5 millions Sony PS3 consoles are expected to be sold in 2008. Moreover, Sony’s PlayStation 2 video game console is likely to gain popularity amongst gamers and anticipates reaching a sales target of 3.9 to 4.9 million units.

Talking about the portable gaming devices, the Nintendo DS is projected to remain at the first place. EA estimates 14-16 million units of DS to be sold, while PSP will lag behind with a sale of 6-8 million units.
