Sony PS3’s Worldwide Sales to reach 11 million?

Sony PS3 Sony Corporation has announced that the global sales of PlayStation 3 are expected to top 11 million by the end of this fiscal year. Despite the intense competition from Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, it seems things are definitely improving for the company.

Recent price cuts have been the advantageous to increase the sales. In addition, new games, a new slimmed-down version, have also boosted the value of purchasing the PS3 console. Sony Computer Entertainment’s Chief Executive, Kazuo Hirai said, “The PlayStation3 is starting afresh as a console to play games with. Although pricing strategy is important, now we would like to put our strength in the number of software games.”

At the beginning of this month we reported that the Sony PlayStation 3 video game console overtook Nintendo Wii in Japan. Hirai told Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper that because of the $100 price cut, the PS3 sales had tripled over the Thanksgiving week.
