Gadgets for Travel: What’s in your Backpack?

In today’s ‘Mobile Era’, the workforce is dynamic and constantly moving. Business is no longer confined to the four walls of the office. As the size of the gadgets gets smaller, it becomes all the more easier to carry them along. Most of the people today carry at least one gadget with them. So we got a bit curious and set out on a journey to find the gadgets that people consistently tag along with them. Along with the most common answer, the mobile phone, we also got a few interesting answers that we’d like to share.

Yezdi Mehta, a student of Mumbai Business School, shared the identities of his travel mates with us. He said that the permanent occupants of his bag are the Dell Inspiron 15 laptop, Nokia 3120 Classic, chargers for both these devices and an 8GB Transcend flash drive.

Fian Bamji, a student of Whistling Woods Institute of Film, Television and Media Arts was more than happy to give us a peek into her backpack. She carries her Apple Mac Book Pro, Nokia 3600 Slide, Cannon Vixia HG20 camcorder and 16GB Transcend flash drive.

The Ajoka Spy pen, the Nokia 5800, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T900/S camera and the Apple iPod Shuffe 3G are the permanent occupants of Varun Verma’s backpack. Varun is a student of Media at the Mumbai University. Sometimes, when on longer journeys, he also adds the Nintendo DS Lite to his backback.

Shanaya D’cruz, a professional photographer gladly lists the contents of her bag for us. Her backpack held a Nikon D700 camera, the iPhone 3G, Sony X series Walkman Video MP3 player and the Apple MacBook Air.

Neville Pavri revealed that he carried a Nokia E71, a Samsung S2 portable hard drive, a Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop and a 32GB Kingston Data Traveler USB pen drive. Neville is an executive officer at Deutsche Bank. At times he also adds the iPod nano to his list of gadgets to carry.

Well, people do carry a lot of expensive stuff with them now-a-days. But then there is a constant fear of these precious gadgets getting damaged during transportation. Almost everyone who carries gadgets is concerned about their safety. In case you haven’t heard, you can now ensure the safety of these valued gadgets by way of a Gadget Insurance. Similar to a life insurance policy the Gadget Insurance policy covers various problems like breakdown repairs without bills, quality-approved repairers, 24 hour telephone advice and more. It also provides you with an option to renew the policy, normally for the life-span of the product.

Well the topic is quite interesting, so we couldn’t resist the urge to list the five gadgets that we would certainly put into our backpack.

The first gadget that we would like to put into our backpack is the Amazon Kindle e-book reader. Although rumors claim that a new version of the Kindle will be seen this fall, this good old e-book reader still remains our favorite. The E-ink brand electronic paper display makes reading stress-free and light while on the go.

Another cool device that we would put into this backpack is the Sony PSP Go. This little baby is also called the PSP-N1000. The Go allows you to download and store a host of content from the PlayStation network. Recently, Sony also introduced the Minis, which are 100MB games for the PSP Go.

The next and our personal favorite device that goes right into our backpack is the Apple iPod Touch. The design of the new iPod looks good and feels even better when held. The new Genius feature of this iPod Touch takes a single song and automatically creates an entire playlist.

Another portable gadget that we would put into this ‘packed’ bag or rightly the backpack is the Carrybag Elekson Keyboard. This bag actually features a Bluetooth keyboard on its outer surface. This keyboard is compatible with any portable device that incorporates Bluetooth. This bag will surely free users of the trouble of using the minimized keyboards offered by most portable devices.

Finally, we would like to add the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX-1 digital camera. Well, the 20x optical zoom offered by this camera is our favorite feature. The Sweep Panorama, Exmor CMOS sensor and the powerful G lens further add to the appeal of this camera.

Well, our backpack seems to have got pretty heavy after we crammed in all this stuff. As gadgets get smaller, the mobility of the workforce increases. An increasing number of people are working while traveling via their laptops, PDAs and mobile phones. We got into this study just out of curiosity to know what people carried with them while they travel every day, the answers appear to be quite interesting, don’t they?
