Sanyo’s PLC-XU4000 Ultra-Portable Projector brings in eco-friendly features

Sanyo has previously released various LCD and DLP projectors that catered to schools, offices and even households. The company now sheds light on its compact XGA projector entitled the ultra-portable PLC-XU4000 that boasts of low power consumption and high brightness as well as high brightness of 4000 lumens. All these attributes are seen packed neatly into a slim form factor for easy transportation.

The 1024 x 768 resolution offering delivers a contrast ratio of 2000:1 and reduced power consumption up to 69% thanks to the employment of the intelligent lamp control system from Sanyo. It can automatically detect the video signal and amend lamp brightness as per the image requirements. The projector is also embedded with the company’s new color shift correction technology for providing color accuracy on all brightness levels.

“The PLC-XU4000 provides a high level of performance in a package that combines great portability with highly efficient ‘green’ operation. Whether the projector is moved from classroom to classroom in an educational facility or taken on the road for business, its size makes it a highly flexible presentation tool,” said Sam Malik, Vice President and General Manager of the Presentation Technologies Group in SANYO North America’s Consumer Solutions Division. “Our new, highly advanced lamp control technology produces higher picture quality that maintains brightness and color accuracy with lower power consumption, extending lamp life up to 5000 hours.”

Owners can expect an easy set-up with automatic vertical keystone correction and on-screen user instructions while the automatic input signal search identifies the input signals and in turn configures the device accordingly. Furthermore, the company also packs along a microphone complete with playback on an integrated speaker driven by a 10-watt amplifier which can even be utilized for external sourced audio.

Network control is possible via the provided PJ-Network software and an RJ45 LAN connection. Various actions can be carried out through PC management such as powering on and off, input switching, viewing the operating time as well as the ability to e-mail operating status notifications. As the company suggests, the video inputs range comprise D-sub 15 pin RGB Component input and single S-Video and RCA Composite inputs as well as a second D-sub 15 pin RGB input that doubles as a video output. The innovative system includes a three-layer filter system in two locations and uses a trio of media in sequence.

The PLC-XU4000 can work up to 5500 hours between filter changes and prices at $1,545.99 (approx. Rs. 70,163). Slated to release this month, the Sanyo device comes backed with a three year parts and labor warranty.
