LG Cinema 3D Smart TVs to arrive with Intel WiDi connect

LG and Intel

The LG Cinema 3D Smart TVs will be seen entering with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) technology next year, to proffer easy connectivity solutions. The company’s offering will probably be the first on the television scenario to incorporate WiDi.

Basically, users will be able to do away with the dongle that laptops require to stream content onto TVs. WiDi will directly connect mobile devices like notebooks and handsets to Cinema 3D Smart TVs. So, worries about issues with the router can be put away too since this technology doesn’t employ Wi-Fi. Plus, in this case additional cables will not be required for transferring content unlike the HDMI and USB options that many devices come with.

“Through this strategic alliance, Cinema 3D Smart TV users will be able to access a wider variety of content in a more convenient manner,” states Seog-ho Ro, Senior Vice President of LG Home Entertainment Company’s TV Business Unit. “Intel WiDi will be one of several features that will enhance the user convenience of our Cinema 3D Smart TVs, further differentiating our products from the competition.”

Another advantage that the WiDi connectivity brings to users is that it not only allows sharing of stored content, but also online content. Mobile gadgets that have access to YouTube videos and other multimedia content on the internet (add coma) can seamlessly transfer it onto an LG Smart TV. When streaming data from notebooks or tablets onto the TVs, users will not be required to halt their work on their devices. This means that the laptops can continue to perform tasks while sharing data with larger screens.

LG Cinema 3D Smart TVs with Intel WiDi technology can be expected to arrive next year. In the mean time, the companies are gearing up to display this product line at the CES next month.
