Toshiba Regza 55X3 TV

At the ongoing CEATEC Japan 2011 exhibition held near Tokyo, Toshiba unveiled its Regza 55X3 TV sporting a resolution of 3,840 × 2,160. The highlight of this 55-inch LCD is that users can enjoy viewing 3D pictures sans glasses.

Techcrunch reports that Toshiba’s latest advanced TV model offers a 280 ×720 resolution in 3D mode. It equips a contrast ratio of 5,000:1 along with a new processor called ‘Regza Engine CEVO Duo’. This device comes with LED backlight and a face-tracking function for producing incredible 3D pictures. Incorporating Regza Link, the TV features five digital tuners as well as 10W × 2ch + 10W speakers. Additionally, it integrates four HDMI and two USB ports.

This TV employs a new 4K technology. As its name suggests, the technology provides four times the quality of current HDTVs in the market. Various models of 4K TVs have been shown before at trade shows by electronic device makers.

As per wide speculation, such 4K TVs should become commonplace in another four to five years. The company engineered this glasses free 3D experience by constantly improvising on the resolution which automatically resulted in three dimensional life-like images. The TVs integrates lenses which scatter light from the screen to create 3D images. These lenses replace the filters in 3D glasses that enable the right and left eyes to see different images.

The Toshiba Regza 55X3 TV is scheduled to retail from December, starting in Japan and Europe. It has been priced at 900,000 yen which comes to around $11,700 (approx. Rs. 5, 80,394).
