Sharp displays new innovative 3D Touchscreen LCD

Sharp 3D Touchsreen LCD

Petered out with watching 3D images with those special glasses? Here’s a change! Sharp Corporation has just announced a 3D touchscreen LCD featuring the industry’s highest brightness that can switch between 2D and 3D modes.

With this innovation, users can now view 3D images without the need to wear special glasses. Emerging as an ideal choice for mobile devices such as digital cameras, mobile phones and smartphones, the 3D LCD uses a parallax barrier system to display 3D images.

Just to notify, the integrated parallax barrier, which has a series of vertical slits, is incorporated into an ordinary LCD to control the path of light reaching the right and left eyes – thus proffering a sense of depth. In addition to significantly improving image quality, it equips CG-Silicon technology that enables more light to pass while doubling the brightness (to 500cd/m2).

As 3D images can be displayed in both portrait and landscape screen orientations, it is ideal for sophisticated mobile devices such as smartphones. Apart from this, Sharp has also developed a non-touchscreen 3D LCD which is anticipated to start its voluminous production in the first half of fiscal 2010.

As of now, there’s no official word on the pricing and availability details of new Sharp 3D touchscreen LCD.
