Epson P-6000 and P-7000 with tethering capabilities

Epson P-700 Photo Viewer

Epson has announced a new tethering feature for its P-6000 and P-7000 lineup of multimedia photo viewers. This new feature is exclusive to Epson and allows users to instantly view and save images. It also assists in streamlining the process of creating backup files and evaluating images.

This new feature will allow users to connect their DSLR cameras to the viewers via a USB cord. As users take images, a backup copy of the snapshots will be saved directly on the viewer. This allows users to instantly preview their images on the viewer’s 4-inch color-accurate LCD screen. Along with this, the company has also released a firmware that incorporates remote shutter release functionalities.

“The new tethering feature in the Epson P-6000 and P-7000 Photo Viewers can dramatically enhance the workflow of any photographer, and is yet another demonstration of our commitment to developing products that meet the needs of the professional photography marketplace,” said Rick Day, senior product manager, Epson America. “Whether working in their studios or in the most remote of locations, an Epson photo viewer is a must-have tool for backing-up and viewing images without a computer.”

The Epson P-6000 and P-7000 viewers feature a jog dial that allows users to quickly scroll through images. The zoom function of the viewer confirms the image focus and fine details of the images. The other specifications include USB 2.0 interface, CompactFlash and Secure Digital memory card slots, Travel Pack with dual battery charger and support for RAW and JPEG files.

The new Epson P-6000 and P-7000 multimedia photo viewer tethering feature will be made available in late October as a free download. The feature will be compatible with select Nikon and Canon DSLRs. The Epson P-6000 and P-7000 viewers are currently available for $599.99 (approx. Rs. 74,320) and $799.99 (approx. Rs. 37,160) respectively.
