HP has revealed its latest touchscreen monitor called the L2105tm. This brand new Windows 7 multi-touch certified monitor is capable of recognizing multi-touch gestures. Along with this, HP has announced that Window 7 operating system will be made available across its portfolio of consumer and business PCs.

The L2105tm features an optical touch panel technology. This technology claims to increase the speed and performance of the monitor. It also ensures that the input is quick and efficiently recognized. The monitor is capable of recognizing touch as well as stylus input.

“HP is celebrating the evolution of touch computing with the entry of Windows 7 to the market,” said Carlos Montalvo, vice president, Experience Marketing, Personal Systems Group, HP. “We are proud of the HP touch framework that we developed for Windows Vista and the collaboration with Microsoft to bring touch into Windows 7.”

The monitor allows users to scroll through long web pages with just a finger. The mouse can be replaced by two fingers. The HP L2105tm also packs in a hard stylus that can be neatly tucked away into the side of the monitor.

“We are thrilled with the level of collaboration between HP and Microsoft,” said Nick Parker, general manager of Worldwide Sales for HP at Microsoft. “The combination of HP’s new PC portfolio and Windows 7 innovations will bring enhanced experiences, improved performance and energy savings to our joint customers.”

HP will also be hosting a series of free Windows 7 Experts Days. These expert days will see 45 experts from HP, Symantec and other companies who will answer questions and share tips to help customers about the Windows 7 platform. In addition, HP will provide customers with advanced tools and services to assist their transition to the new operating system.

The HP L2105tm touchscreen monitor is now available for purchase at a price of $299 (approx. Rs. 13,983). The company is also offering users HP Carbon Footprint Calculator, a tool to help reduce the environmental impact and costs of computing.
