Hitachi to introduce 1.5-inch Ultra Thin Plasma Display at CES

Hitachi Ultra Thin Plasma DisplayHitachi has announced its plan to introduce the ultra-thin Plasma TV at CES. The company boasts that this display panel is just 1.5-inch in depth. It has been developed from the company’s highly proprietary and innovative technology.

This Plasma display carries 50-inches of screen size.

The features of the latest ultra-thin plasma display include:

  • An advanced search technology that can be applied to visual images
  • A system that allows video to be shared between homes and then viewed on a TV, not a PC
  • A wireless video gateway for sharing content among several displays in the home
  • An IPTV user interface for accessing, managing and sharing content at home or on the go
  • According to the report, this Ultra Thin Displays is slated to roll out as HDTV Monitors in the Director’s Series and V Series, with 1 HDMI (1.3) and 1 RGB D-Sub15 input with audio input. The S series comes with the HDTV Monitor as well as a separate Audio Video Center such as an ATSC/NTSC tuner, 3HDMI(1.3) and 2 Component inputs.

    A ‘super’ Ultra Thin LCD at just .75 inches in depth is also expected to be introduced by Hitachi in the coming months.

    Hitachi will launch the first ultra-thin Plasma LCD in early 2008 and will commercialize it by late 2009.
