On Wednesday, Sharp Japan announced that it has developed a prototype next-generation liquid crystal display television set that is much thinner and lighter than current models available in the market.
The TV incorporates a 52-inch display and is just 2 cms thick, while the conventional models measure 8cm thick. The new developed TV weighs just 25 kgs, which is 5 kgs lesser than most TV sets in the market.
Besides, Sharp claims that the new TV is power efficient and consumes only 140 kilowatt-hours.
In all aspects the new 52-inch Liquid Crystal Display sports revolutionary features. The new TV delivers contrast ratio of 100,000:1.
Well Sharp plans to ship the next generation LCD TV by 2010. Thus it is too early to disclose price details, isn’t it?
