Samsung demos wide range of LCD Panels at FPD International 2007

Samsung logo Samsung Electronics has announced that they will showcase a diverse array of leading-edge LCD panels for monitors, TVs and digital information displays at FPD International 2007, in Yokohama, Japan. The demonstration is set to be held on October 24-26.

Samsung has planned to unveil a 40-inch diagonal full HDTV, which is just 10.0mm thick. The company has developed this panel by reducing the bezel to 14.6mm from a conventional 30mm. Sporting an LED backlight, the panel reproduces 92 percent of the NTSC standard for color saturation and features low power consumption of 90 watts or less.

The electronic giant has also introduced premium LCD panels for laptops that comes in 16-inch and 18.4-inch screen sizes, offers 16:9 aspect ratio for the owner to experience high definition movies, digital TV and next-generation gaming.

Furthermore, a 22-inch desktop monitor LCD that features a next-generation DisplayPort interface approved by the Video Electronics Standards Association, which enhances the use of high-quality graphics (8 bits or higher), will also be presented at the event. Samsung’s new 15.4-inch LCD with an active, white-LED backlight will also be showcase.

Samsung will also exhibit a 46-inch model that is part of the digital information display. This unique monitor, which is no more than 10mm thick, features a brightness level of 1,500nits, triple that delivered by LCD panels designed for TV viewing. Moreover, a bezel is also available.

At the exhibition, the company also plans to showcase its 7-inch display, which will be in the mobile display section. It comes with an embedded touch screen on its upper glass layer. Additionally, a 2.1-inch LCD is expected to be demonstrated that features sensor-based automatic brightness control to adjust the brightness of the backlight to match ambient lighting, while lowering power consumption by around 25 percent.

Finally, Samsung also plans to present the next-generation concepts, including a 14.3-inch plastic display, 8.1-inch e-paper and a 14.1-inch active-matrix OLED at the FPD International.
