Astak unveils Mole Self-Configuring, Standalone Internet camera

Astak Mole Webcam Astak has come up with a new and innovative webcam. This latest offering from Astak is called the Mole and is said to cater to the needs of the consumers looking for an easy and affordable way to capture, view and share unattended videos.

The Mole boasts of its automatic network configuration capability that enables users to remotely share real-time videos from any web browser, social networking site, or Internet-capable mobile phone, including the iPhone. This Astak camera is said to be a complete solution for home or business surveillance, health and family care, social network sharing, pet or bird watching, and other unfolding events such as social gatherings.

“The Mole will redefine home and business surveillance, and it also opens the door to using a remote camera for sharing unattended video, since it’s Web 2.0 ready,” said Jason Hsia, CEO of Astak. “Internet citizens are already uploading over 20 hours of video to YouTube every minute. When interesting or important events are underway, you can’t always be there to see or record them in person. That all changes with the Mole, where motion-detected events can be auto-uploaded to YouTube and a tweet auto-sent to your Twitter feed.”

The Mole comes embedded with advanced software that allows users to set it up in minutes. It also allows users to remotely adjust the pan as well as change views. The other high-end features of this device include motion detection activation, night vision, two-way audio, and a built-in DVR. It also offers support for Wi-Fi and Ethernet.

The Astak Mole webcam will be made available early this November. The webcam will retail for $299 (approx. Rs. 14,200) and will be available via Astak’s network of retail and distribution partners.
