There seems to be a huge demand of low cost tablets in India considering the number of homegrown companies introducing devices in this segment, the latest being the Digital Waves tabplus Rio. The tabplus has made its appearance less than a month after the Ubislate 7+ was announced, and is priced on par with slates like Reliance 3G tab and Spice MiTab, which were introduced last year.

The tabplus flaunts a high definition capacitive multi-touch LCD display spanning 7 inches that can render visuals in 800 x 480p resolution. The lightweight tablet with dimensions of 203 x 120 x 13 millimeters, tips the scale at 350 grams. It acquires multitasking capabilities from the the Cortex A9 processor, which clocks in a speed of 1GHz. Also, it binges on the Google Android Gingerbread platform and offers access to the Android Market. Featuring 512MB DDR2 RAM, this multimedia ready device lends support to microSD card of capacity up to 32GB.

Besides faster performance, the flash inclusion in the tab makes for a smooth web browsing experience. Additionally, some of its variants can run on the 3G network speed with the help of a USB dongle. Deployed with 4 side G-sensor, the tablet has been optimized for gaming on the move. Moreover, it is armed with a front facing webcam to facilitate video conferencing on Skype and supports common formats for audio and video playback to take care of the entertainment bit.

The Digital Waves tabplus Rio price is Rs. 11,990 and it is now available in the country. It is backed by a one year warranty and will be shipped free of charge across India.
