LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer learning slate for kids
It’s been more than a decade since LeapFrog came out with the LeapPad Learning System and Amazon’s still selling it through their online portal. Lately, LeapFrog has been building on the success of the Leapster Explorer and then taking the trendy dive into the tablet segment with their LeapPad Explorer slate for kids. It is accompanied by the LeapFrog Learning Path facility so that parents can keep tabs over their child’s progress via e-mail updates.
The slate will be supported by a learning ecosystem housing over a hundred games, videos, flash cards, eBooks and more. It incorporates a 5” color finger-touch display as well as a tilt sensor for game control. Cited to be capable of handling a bit of roughhousing, the tablet embeds a camera and video recorder, microphone and animation studio.
“LeapFrog created the first interactive learning experience with our original iconic LeapPad Learning System in 1998,” cited Craig Hendrickson, senior vice president and chief product officer for LeapFrog. “After 10 years of research into the most proficient ways for children to learn, we are doing it again with LeapPad Explorer. LeapPad Explorer is a multifunctional learning tablet that can ignite children’s imaginations and learning, but also handle a little rough and tumble play. This will be the must-have gift for all eager learners.
The LeapPad Explorer is mainly built to help kids develop their phonics, mathematics, and spelling skills. Writing skills can be practiced with step-by-step instructions and a stylus designed with children in mind. LeapFrog will be selling it through their official website and even at major outlets across the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Africa, Singapore, Korea, Philippines and Thailand.
The LeapPad Explorer will be out in summer for $99.99 (approx Rs. 4,500). The downloadable apps and game cartridges for this tablet will be priced at $7.50 (approx Rs. 350) and $24.99 (approx Rs. 1,100) apiece, respectively.
