Kogan Agora 8″ and 10″ Android tablets unveiled
Australia recently saw the launch of the Kogan Agora Android tablets in 8” and 10” versions. The freshly released devices have been built with a lightweight design and come with various input and output options.
The Wi-Fi enabled tablets are embedded with bright, 4:3 ratio capacitive touchscreens and offer users access to thousands of apps through the Android Market. They come hot on the heels of their 7” counterpart which was released by Kogan earlier this year. Operating on Android 2.3, each of the devices is powered by a 1Ghz Cortex A8 processor.
Ruslan Kogan, founder and CEO of Kogan Technologies commented, “There’s a lot of hype around tablets and the so-called post-PC era of consumer electronics. It’s difficult to leave your house these days without seeing someone using a tablet. But, a lot of people are still concerned about the expense of the tablets on the market, and can’t justify spending up to $1,000 on an entertainment device.”
“The Kogan Agora 7” tablet we launched earlier in the year was a roaring success, selling out multiple production runs within days. But we have had a lot of constructive feedback over the past few months in the Kogan community that have resulted in direct changes to the new range. As a result, we know we’re creating an device that will be loved by anyone wanting to own their own tablet without feeling guilty for forking out an arm and a leg,” added Kogan.
Both the tablets are said to be quite cost effective and are equipped with illuminated soft-keys. They come with 512MB DDR3 internal storage and the memory can be expanded by up to 32GB via microSD cards. While both slates feature 2MP cameras, the 8” tablet runs on a 3600mAh battery and the 10” model is powered by a 5500mAh one.
The Kogan Agora 8″ and 10″ Android tablets are now available at kogan.com.au at prices of $149 (approx. Rs. 7,302) and $189 (approx. Rs. 9,262), respectively. They are scheduled to start shipping from November 4.
