Marvell logoStudents all around the globe are soon to be in for a complete treat. With the latest affordable product from Marvell, carrying around books in a school bag may just be a thing of the past. The company unveils the Moby tablet prototype which is aimed at catering to students.

Marvell is set to proffer its high performance mobile tablet which is looked upon as a great learning tool. The offering includes 1080p full-HD and 3D media, full Flash Internet as well as live, real-time content. According to the company, the Moby tablet also looks into the vital issues plaguing today’s world. It is observed that printed text books are outdated. On the other hand, the electronic textbooks can be constantly refreshed and updated at regular intervals.

Weili Dai, Marvell’s Co-founder and Vice President and General Manager of Marvell Semiconductor’s Consumer and Computing Business Unit, commented, “Education is the most pressing social and economic issue facing our country and our times. I believe the Marvell Moby tablet can ignite a life-long passion for learning in all students everywhere. Marvell’s goal is to fundamentally improve the way students learn by giving them more efficient, relevant — even fun tools to use. Marvell’s Moby tablet recognizes that every student learns differently and so it delivers an array of media choices for different learning styles.

Dai further added, “Marvell can help propel education into the 21st century with an all-in-one device that gives students access to the best live content, information and resources the world has to offer — from books and online sources, in text, video, news, music, data expression or any medium. With Moby tablet, students can conduct primary research, reach out directly to the world’s leading subject experts and even collaborate with one another around the globe. Best of all, the device is highly affordable. I envision Marvell’s Moby tablets to benefit all students around the world.”

The inclusion of the latest Moby tablet will also address the rising cost of textbooks these days. If the affordable device is employed then the electronic versions of textbooks may just sell for quarter of the price. The elimination of hardbound textbooks will also result in a lighter school bag. The Marvell tablet sports a thin appearance and is lightweight and highly portable in nature. With these qualities, the tablet would hardly take up any space in the back pack. As part of the multi-year program, the company is expected to donate to each child of the District of Columbia Public School a Moby tablet.

Moving towards the intricate specs of the tablet, the device houses the low-power Marvell Armada 600 series of application processors. It also includes 1080p full-HD encode and decode, gigahertz-class processor speed, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/FM/GPS connectivity and intelligent power management. The tablet also offers high performance 3D graphics capability as well as support for multiple software standards like Windows Mobile and Adobe Flash, Android. Users can also expect a long-battery life as it employs only the required amount of power.
