Gateway E-295C and C-140 Tablet PCs Announced

Gateway E-295C Tablet PC Gateway has updated its 14-inch professional convertible notebook series with a new pressure sensitive stylus and biometric security features. The E-295c and C-140X are the new updated versions Gateway has brought up.

Both the notebooks are targeted mainly at animators and illustrators, as they include a pen and digitizer by Wacom, specializing in digital art. The pen has 256 levels of sensitivity for different effects, and will register contact even when used at a slant.

“Currently, student work in the animation department is done 90 percent on paper,” said Jonathan Stiles, director of campus technology at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design.

He added, “Over the course of the next year, we will be reducing that amount to 10 percent, an enormous overhaul that will positively impact the environment and benefit our students at the same time.”

The pro version of the tablet is the E-295c, which includes, up to a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of RAM. Besides, buyers can make a choice between integrated graphics, or upgrade to a 128MB Mobility Radeon X2300 HD. Moreover, buyers can choose between Windows XP Tablet and Vista Business at no cost difference. The E-295c will be available at the price of $1,549.

On other hand the C-140X is the home version. It is powered by T7100 Core 2 Duo processor (1.80GHz, 800MHz, 2MB L2 Cache), Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium, 1GB DDR2 memory, 80GB HDD, DVD burner and Integrated GMA X3100 graphics with option for ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 HD 256MB PCI Express Graphics. The Gateway C-140X is available at the approximate price of $950.
