OCZ PCI-E Z-Drive R5 SSD released in association with Marvell

The latest storage solution called OCZ PCI-E Z-Drive R5 SSD has been introduced in collaboration with Marvell. Meant for enterprise storage clients, this versatile device claims to take PCI-E based solid storage to another level as it packs in the Kilimanjaro platform developed by these companies.
According to OCZ, this solid state drive possesses high bandwidth capabilities and delivers better transactional performance. Available in capacities as high as 12TB, it works with most enterprise data types and large data sets in both compressible and non-compressible files. Its pre-installed OCZ Virtualized Controller Architecture 3.0 software helps with the storage subsystem management.
“We are continually pushing the envelope to deliver innovative PCIe SSDs to address challenges that our clients face when processing and managing ever growing amounts of complex data sets. The Z-Drive R5, leverages the powerful Kilimanjaro platform to deliver superior performance, greater capacity, and an enhanced hardware and software feature-set that is unmatched in the industry. This best-of-breed next generation native solution enables clients to eliminate I/O bottlenecks for even the most data intensive server and enterprise storage applications,” quoted Ryan Petersen, CEO of OCZ Technology.
Along with offering a power fail protection option, the storage solution boasts of compatibility with VMware ESXi and ESX Linux, OS X and Windows Server 2008 platforms, which facilitate using it in conjunction with a large number of systems and servers. Available in full and half height sizes, it can easily be deployed in space-constrained servers. Moreover, it comes in options of MLC, eMLC and SLC NAND flash.
The OCZ PCI-E Z-Drive R5 SSD will be exhibited at the Storage Visions 2012 and also at the CES.
