Active Media Products intros 128GB 1.8″ PATA ZIF SSD
Gradually, SSDs are successfully replacing HDDs in several devices. Active Media Products’ SaberTooth ZX series of 1.8-inch PATA ZIF SSDs gets a new addition in the form of the 128GB SSD. Aptly designed for notebooks and netbooks, it offers sequential read speeds up to 80MB/sec and write speeds up to 38MB/sec.
The SSD also claims to deliver bootup, shutdown and application load speeds much faster than the new 128GB ZX. With dimensions similar to 1.8-inch HDDs, it utilizes a parallel ATA (PATA / IDE) ZIF interface, and supports PIO mode 6 and Ultra DMA mode 6. SaberTooth ZX offers compatibility with most netbooks using 1.8″ PATA ZIF hard drives and also claims to be one of the fastest and easiest ways to upgrade a multitude of mobile computers to higher performance and more storage.
