Hitachi graces India with Simple Tough, XL Desktop and X Mobile drives
Hitachi Global Storage Technologies is all set to drench India with its first external storage solutions. Among the array are the Hitachi X Mobile Drive and XL Desktop Drive. The company also brings to Indian soil the shock and water resistant external hard drive dubbed as the Simple Tough. The offerings are ideal for SOHO users as well as on-the-go customers.
The Hitachi Simple Tough portable USB 2.0 drive is noted to be one of the most rugged drives which are expected to withstand harsh environments. According to the company, the product can take on more falls and spills when pitted against any standard external drive. It seems to have the ability to even survive being run over by one-ton class commercial truck.
The Simple Tough comes complete with a foldaway USB cable, topside LED for power status and ergonomic sides, all ideal for transporting from one place to another. While sporting a rugged exterior, the Simple Tough is also noted to be just as robust and reliable on the inside. It is integrated with Hitachi’s award-winning Travelstar hard drives. The USB powered device can be found in a 500GB capacity.
Next up is the Hitachi X Mobile Drive which acquires its power from the included USB 2.0 cable. The latest drive offers a chic appearance while bearing an affordable price tag. It employs reliable hard drives from Hitachi itself to ensure that all the data is in safe hands. The X Mobile Drive can be espied in a black hue in 320GB and 500GB capacities dubbed as Hitachi X320 Mobile Drive and Hitachi X500 Mobile Drive respectively.

The Hitachi XL Desktop Drive brings to the forefront an easy way to store and back up both personal as well as professional information and data. It lets PC and Mac users save loads of photos, videos and songs onto its wide capacity drive. The desktop drive can be placed either horizontally or vertically in any office or home. Customers can find the product sporting a smooth black finish and in capacities of 2TB and 1TB.
All these Hitachi drives provide a high-speed USB 2.0 interface, simple user interface and Hitachi Local Backup software. There is also a particular software included with the offerings which provide step-by-step wizards for re-acquiring backed up content.
Although these products by Hitachi are now available in India, the exact pricing details are still a bit hazy.
