Toshiba Canvio external HDD for Mac in radiant silver

Canvio For Mac

Toshiba is trying to make up to those Mac users who felt left out when they launched the Canvio portable HDD for Windows back in March. The Canvio for Mac portable external HDD has now been made available in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities. Apart from the radiant silver color option, the drive is also up for grabs in a shade of infinite white.

The HDD comes pre-installed with NTI Shadow 5 for Mac software that makes backing up and synching data as easy as ever. Users can opt to back up selective files and folders stored or everything saved to their Mac PCs or even both with this drive. Restoring content stored on a Mac requires users to simply boot to the Canvio.

Backup files can be secured through this plug-and-play drive’s 256-bit encryption technology and the Drive Space Alert monitor notifies owners when the device starts running low on backup capacity. Flaunting a sleek, anti-slip exterior, the drive employs the USB 2.0 interface and offers an average seek time of around 12ms as also 8MB of cache buffer memory.

Advanced users are given the option of customizing the backup routine by choosing the most common files types, changing the threshold settings on the Drive Space Alert or adjusting how often backups take place. Additionally, internal shock sensor and ramp loading technologies guard the storage device from damage.

This 3.1” x 4.7” x 0.5” HDD tips the scale at 5.2oz and comes backed by a three year warranty. It is compatible with Mac OS X10.5 or later versions and is bundled in with a USB 2.0 cable and Quick Install guide. Toshiba is selling the 500GB Canvio for Mac at $99.99 (approx. Rs. 4,675), while the 750GB and 1TB versions cost $119.99 (approx. Rs. 5,600) and $139.99 (approx. Rs. 6,550), respectively.
