WD offers easy sharing with My Book Live home network drive
For multimedia enthusiasts who like downloading their favorite titles, streaming movies and sharing files with loved ones, here’s an easy solution. Western Digital has now shed some light on its new home network drive that renders a simple setup, the My Book Live. Offering quicker storage, this latest device allows users to effortlessly access their content and centralizes a home’s digital media.
Leveraging the processor technology, this device delivers transfer speeds of up to 100MBps which is said to be thrice as fast as the native USB 2.0 drives. Users can enjoy videos, music and images on any Mac or PC that is connected to the home network through its built-in media server. Streaming of digital media to a television set via a DLNA-certified multimedia device like WD TV Live Plus HD media player, Blu-ray disc player, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 game console is also possible.

Users can play music and videos which are stored on the My Book Live home network drive in iTunes, while the WD Photos app allows them to view digital photos on their iPhone, iPod touch and iPad just by the swipe of a finger. Using WD’s free remote access service, owners can access and share all the content and files stored on the solution from any Internet-connected PC or Mac. The device flaunts compatibility with Apple Time Machine, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard, and DLNA/UPnP enabled devices.
The new My Book Live home network drive is available in two capacities of 1TB and 2TB through select U.S. retailers and online websites for $169.99 (approx Rs. 7,550) and $229.99 (approx Rs. 10,216), respectively.
