Toshiba enters 3.5” external HDD market

Toshiba External HDD The Digital Products Division of Toshiba recently publicized the availability of its first 3.5” external HDD. The external HDD seems to be a classy, reasonable backup device that offers dual connectivity along with robust software features and up to 1TB of capacity.

The device provides dual connectivity by means of high-speed USB 2.0 and eSATA ports. Data protection is ensured due to the robust software application. Further the software package facilitates users not just to back up and restore selected files, but the entire system.

“On the heels of successfully building a 2.5-inch external HDD business, we are ready to expand our hard drive expertise into the 3.5-inch HDD market. We designed the external hard drive to provide consumers an easy-to-use back up option that not only performs above competition, but is also a stylish accessory for their PC,” stated Michael Cassidy, director, accessories and HDD marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division.

The storage device is compatible with both Mac and PC. The device measures 6.6” x 6.8” x 1.34” and features power saving mode. The external HDD incorporates internal dampening system for shock protection. It comes with 3-year standard limited warranty. The package is inclusive of a 4 ft. USB cable & AC adapter, a hard drive cradle stand and preloaded backup software.

The 3.5″ external HDD is retailed for $129.99 MSRP (approx. Rs. 6, 292) for 640GB model and $159.99 MSRP (approx. Rs.7, 745) for the 1TB model.
