Western Digital 2TB AV-GP hard drive launched in India
Recently we had reported about the WD AV-GP 2TB hard drive with GreenPower Technology. This hard drive now comes to the Indian market.
WD AV-GP hard drive offers cool and quiet operation with 40 percent less power consumption compared to other hard drives. This is made possible by the integrated IntelliSeek, IntelliPark, and IntelliPower technologies. It is apt for audio and video applications.
This drive can be conveniently used for media centers, media servers, digital video recorders (DVRs) and surveillance video recording that demands greater capacity and dependability.
“Our consumer electronics customers require hard drives that consume less power, generate less heat and operate quietly,” said Sharad Srivastava, Director-Sales (India & South Asia), Western Digital. “Audio and video recording applications, such as DVRs, media servers, media centers and mainstream surveillance systems, often demand 24×7 operations from hard drives. Our drives meet the demanding requirements of these markets including higher reliability, universal compatibility, low power consumption and the ability to simultaneously record multiple audio and/or high-definition video streams.”
The included IntelliPark technology minimizes aerodynamic drag by unloading the heads during spare time. It also provides improved robustness to sustain excess transportation and greater handling by strengthening non-operating shock characteristics of the drive.
WD AV-GP hard drive supports various AV products such as DVD recorders, set-top boxes and mainstream surveillance systems.
SilkStream technology enables smooth, continuous playback of digital video up to 12 simultaneous HD streams. Additionally, Preemptive Wear Leveling technology (PWL) sweeps the disk to keep a check on uneven wear on the drive surface.
The WD AV-GP 2TB hard drive model WD20EVDS is available in India at MSRP Rs15,500 through select distributors outlet.
