Expanding its collection of external hard drives, Hitachi recently introduced SimpleDrive desktop external hard drive with storage capacities up to 2TB. The company also announced the availability of 2TB capacities of 3.5-inch retail drives including the Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000. New, upgraded solutions include the Hitachi SimpleTech Pro Drive, Duo Pro Drive and the Hitachi Internal Hard Drive Kit.
The SimpleDrive USB 2.0 desktop external hard drive allows Mac and PC users to hoard or backup 665,000 photos, 500,000 MP3s or 4,000 hours of standard video. The Hitachi device is made up of an anodized aluminum enclosure that keeps the SimpleDrive cool.

The SimpleTech Pro Drive presents four interface options such as USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, and 3Gb/sec eSATA along with two levels of backup protection. The storage device also features a built-in security lock. SimpleTech Duo Pro Drive by Hitachi incorporates two drives in one and with RAID 0, or striping, both hard drives inside are capable of reading or writing files, making storing and accessing files faster than using one disk alone.
Further, RAID 1, or mirroring, creates an extra copy of stored files on the second internal hard drive, offering additional data protection. To boost the capacity and performance of Mac or PC desktop computer, Hitachi introduces internal hard drive kits inclusive of a reliable high-performance drive, easy installation instructions, SATA cable and mounting screws. Hitachi hard drives are offered in 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM with up to 32MB cache buffer.
SimpleTech desktop external hard drive comes with two levels of data backup. Hitachi Local Backup presents simple wizards that guide users in setting up automatic backups on specific days or dates. Apart from this backup option, users can also avail 2GB of free online backup space from Hitachi Ultimate Backup. Users can access unlimited capacity and backup all their files and media collections offsite just for $4.95 per month. All data is encrypted for security using 128-bit SSL encryption, with an option for a private encryption key.
The Hitachi SimpleDrive with 500GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities can be purchased from OfficeMax stores for an MSRP of $99.99 (approx Rs. 4,622 ), $129.99 (approx Rs. 6,009) and $249.99 (approx Rs. 11,557), respectively. 1TB model of the SimpleTech Duo Pro Drive costs $199.99 (approx Rs. 9,245 ), while the 2TB and the 4TB devices are retailed for $299.99 (approx Rs. 13,869) and $499.99 (approx Rs. 23,116) respectively. The 2TB, 7,200 RPM Hitachi Internal Hard Drive Kit can be purchased for $249.99 (approx Rs. 11,557). All these devices come with a three year warranty.
