Seagate unveils Cheetah 15K.7 and NS.2 HDDs with 3.5-inch Tier 1 TB storage support

Seagate launches two new hard drives from the Cheetah enterprise-class hard drive family designed for 3.5-inch Tier 1 storage applications, namely the Cheetah 15K.7 hard drive and the Cheetah NS.2 hard drive.

Both the Cheetah drives claim to offer low power consumption, sustainability through easy drive/system integration and enhanced system performance, capacity and reliability to any 3.5-inch drive. Said to be the largest capacity mission-critical drives, the Cheetah 15K.7 and NS.2 carry storage capacity at 600 GB or at the lower memory configurations at 450 GB and 300 GB.

Featuring second-generation PowerTrim technology, the two new members of Cheetan family boast to dynamically optimize power consumption at all levels of activity.

Available as Self-Encrypting Drives for designated OEMs, both the 3.5-inch Cheetan drives have 6Gb/s SAS-2.0, 4Gb/s FC interface, 0.55% AFR / 1.6M hours MTBF reliability and 16 MB cache. While the Cheetah 15K.7 drive offers spindle speed at 15,000 RPM and a seek time of 3.4 ms, the Cheetah NS.2 drive delivers spindle speed at 10,000 RPM and 3.8 ms seek time.

Both the Cheetah NS.2 drive and the Cheetah 15K.7 hard drives are available now. However, the price is not known.
