Samsung 1.5 TB EcoGreen F2EG hard disk drive
Samsung comes up with yet another eco-friendly device and this time in the form of the EcoGreen F2EG hard disk with a magnificent 1.5TB storage capacity with 500GB per disk.
This new EcoGreen F2 drive supports up to 1.5 TB with just three disks, thus it comes with less number of disks and higher recording density. As we know, higher the hard disk capacity, higher is the power consumption. However, here is an exception as the Samsung F2EG ensures lower power consumption with EcoTriangle technology with low-power, low-heat and low-noise operation.
“Lower platter count means less power to start the motor, less power to continuously spin the motor and a lighter head-stack which takes less power to seek,” said Andy Higginbotham, director of HDD sales and marketing for the Samsung Semiconductor Storage Division. “With fewer heads and disks, the F2EG hard drive has a lower probability of head-disk failures, enabling customers to build more reliable systems.”
The drive consumes 40 percent less power in idle mode and 45 percent less power in the reading/writing mode. The Eco-Triangle technology also provides efficient and high performance hard drive options to several manufacturers. It is compliant with several environmental regulations including Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) Regulations.
The F2EG also features 500GB/1TB/1.5TB capacity, 16MB/32MB buffer memory, 3.0 gigabytes per second (Gbps) Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) interface and advanced PMR technology.
The Samsung EcoGreen F2EG hard drive is now shipping to major OEM businesses and the 1.5TB HDD will cost you about $149.00 (approx Rs. 7,674).
