Iomega launches 2TB and 4TB StorCenter Pro ix4-100

Iomega announces the launch of its StorCenter Pro ix4-100 NAS.

Based on enterprise-class EMC storage technologies, the four-drive NAS powered appliance is compatible with EMC LifeLine software to protect the valuable data. This fully-developed Linux operating environment and suite of applications claim to perform helpful business tasks for secured storage, which is ideal for cross-platform computer support.

The device requires only four mouse clicks for high-capacity networked storage, fast data throughput, file-sharing and backup of critical business data. It is compliant with multiple RAID configurations and RSA BSAFE encryption security technology for protecting installs and upgrades from viruses or malware. Said to be ideal for small businesses, it offers centralized storage to about 25 users without a need of IT staff to manage it.

Supporting Windows PC, Linux workstation and Macintosh computer, the StorCenter Pro ix4-100 is managed by a user friendly web interface that is accessible in 11 supported languages. Apart from that, it features Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, four USB 2.0 ports with print sharing capability and Bluetooth technology.

Other features of StorCenter Pro ix4-100 include:

  • Windows Active Directory Support to allows the ix4 to function as a client member in an Active Directory domain, providing users and groups access to the ix4
  • UPS Support to enable unattended system shutdown without data loss in the case of power failure.
  • It supports read and write on various formats, including Fat32, NTFS or ext2/ext3 formatted hard disks (read only on external HFS+ formatted drives).
  • The ix4-100 provides email and SNMP notification for quick system status.
  • System Dashboard claims to offer easy-to-understand status information on space utilization, device, peripheral and backup status.
  • Video Surveillance shows compatibility for up to three Axis Network video cameras, ensuring real-time monitoring and video capture directly to the ix4-100.
  • UPnP AV Media Server allows the NAS server to support UPnP and DLNA certified media players to stream photos, audio content and videos to laptops, PC game consoles (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3), audio bridges, iTunes players, digital picture frames and other devices.
  • Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) allows no touch, automatic transfer of photos from digital cameras via one of the four USB 2.0 ports on the ix4-100.

    • Moreover, it comes bundled with EMC Retrospect backup software for data backup and protection for any number of desktops and laptops. It also includes MozyHome online backup service that allows users to securely save up to 2GB of data online for free.

    The 2 TB StorCenter Pro ix4-100 NAS server carries a price tag of $799.95 (approx. Rs. 38,980), while the 4TB version is available for $1,299.95 (approx. Rs. 63,340).
