Samsung intros 640GB S2 and 2TB S3 external hard drives

Samsung S Series Hard Drive Hard disks serve various purposes today and just as Terabyte highly makes its presence felt, Samsung prepares to launch two new editions to its S series external hard drive lineup. Here’s introducing the 3.5-inch 2TB S3 Station and the 640GB 2.5-inch S2 portable.

The portable lineup previously was available only in capacities up to 500GB but now the latest S2 640 GB drive has changed the situation. This drive has the capability to hold data equivalent to 128,000 digital images, 160,000 MP3 music files, or 77 hours of high definition movies. Thus now Samsung’s portable hard drive range offers 2.5-inch drives spanning from 160GB to 640GB densities.

“As consumer demands continue to escalate for storing personal data, music and video files, Samsung has expanded its extensive family of external hard drives to support the growing personal storage market,” said Cheol-hee Lee, vice president of marketing, Storage Systems Division, Samsung Electronics. “The new drives provide users with a sleek design and high-density choices in both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factors.”

The 3.5-inch S3 Station now comes in 2-Terabyte (TB) data storage capacity and has been conceived to store large data file back-up for desktop Pc’s. This device comes in a classis piano black glossy casing along with a space-saving footprint to conserve desk space.

Both these drives offer security features such as Auto Backup, SecretZone, and SafetyKey. The 640GB S2 Portable comes with a USB 2.0 interface but it receives its power supply from the main USB port for added user convenience.

The 640GB S2 Portable will be available this month while S3 Station will be available for purchase early next year.
