Active Media intros Penguin Bootable Linux USB Drive

With the recent launch of a penguin-shaped USB drive by Active Media Products, the company seems to have come up with a super-cool form factor for USBs. The new Penguin Bootable Linux USB (BLU) drive, is compatible with Windows 7 and benefits WWF.

The Bootable Linux USB comes preloaded with the full installation of Ubuntu Linux 9.0.4. It’s an exceptional disaster recovery solution in the case of problems occurring with the operating system on the primary hard drive. Since important data files on the hard drive can be backed up onto the BLU drive or another USB storage device.

The Active Media creation is specifically designed keeping the emperor penguin in mind with its exact detail and is made of non-toxic silicone rubber. It’s totally free of PVC, lead and mercury. The World Wildlife Fund is benefited with every purchase of this cute little giant. The company now sells a series of handy USB flash drives such as penguin, panda and polar bear drives under the licensing agreement with WWF AMP. It also contributes five percent of the retail price of this product line to WWF.

The BLU drives have a capacity of up to 16GB. The Ubuntu is a community developed Linux-based operating system. They are an ideal choice for laptops, desktops and servers. Plenty of usable storage space for carrying photos, music and other data remains as the operating system occupies about 700MB of the drive.

The Penguin Bootable Linux USB Drive of 1GB costs $12.95(approx. Rs.621), the 2GB costs $15.95(approx. Rs.765), the 4GB is priced at $22.95(approx. Rs.1101), the 8GB is priced at $28.95(approx. Rs.1389) and the 16GB is priced at $43.95(approx. Rs.2103).
